UTV

UTVs (Utility Terrain Vehicles) or side by sides as they are known, are incredibly popular all-terrain vehicles that have the ability to handle any situation and provide hours of fun. They are known as side by sides because the vehicles have two seats in the front, much like a golf cart. But it is there that the similarity ends. The UTV is faster, louder and way more fun.

These vehicles are known for racing across the dunes at high speeds or conquering off-road terrain. Because these vehicles are so small yet can do so much, the safety aspects of the vehicle should influence your decision when you purchase one.

The major concern with the UTV is that it will flip over. For this reason, buying a UTV with a quality Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS) is essential. Look for a vehicle that has a certified ROPS. This way you can be sure that it will not crush if you were to flip the vehicle.

The next safety concern is the restraints. Look for an UTV that comes with both lap belt and shoulder belt. If you buy one with just a lap belt, you may not feel as secure when traveling high speeds and it could be the cause of a serious injury.

Leg protection is not essential but it is highly recommended. Either a net or a door on the side of the vehicle could save you from broken bones or nasty cuts that require medical attention.

To increase the comfort and enjoyment of your UTV ride, quality shocks are essential. Look out for low and high-speed compression adjustment, preload adjustment and rebound adjustment. If your UTV does not come with the perfect shocks, your overall experience can really improve when you replace the stock shocks.
